Four students from the Omar Bin AlKhattab school participated in the annual Gulf Physics Olympiad for the second year. Two students, Omar and Nawaf both were bronze medal winners. Congratulations to them!
Qatar is now a member of the International Particle Physics Masterclass. Qatar Physics Society will be holding an event in March 2018 allowing students to analyse live data from Particle Physics experiments for the first time in Qatar.
Great News for Physics; following the highly successful International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies in 2015, the Executive Board of UNESCO has endorsed an enduring International Day of Light to be celebrated on 16th May every year commencing from 2018.
